Green Youth Hub – Jakarta

On July 18, 2025, the ASEAN Youth Forum hosted the Green Youth Hub Activation workshop in Jakarta. The event successfully brought together 24 young participants from diverse organizations to establish a youth network dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive green transition in Indonesia.
The workshop established shared values for respectful and inclusive discussion. Participants then formed five groups based on key environmental themes: Energy Transition, Gender and Climate Justice, Food Security, Waste Management, and Climate Disasters. In these initial groups, they discussed the importance of youth involvement and existing solutions, later presenting their findings in a talk show format.

The day featured two expert speaker sessions. A speaker from WALHI shared insights on environmental advocacy, detailing the successful grassroots campaign and legal actions, and from the Humanis Foundation introduced the concept of the climate crisis as a “care crisis”, explaining how systemic power imbalances and the undervaluation of care work, often performed by women, worsen environmental injustice and advocated for human rights-based and intersectional approaches to climate action.
The workshop’s culminating activity was the collaborative development of the “Joint Statement: Youth for Inclusive Green Transition”. This “living document” was designed to articulate the collective concerns and commitments across the five thematic areas. This document is aimed to be presented at the SEA Youth Summit, later this year
